Alcohol Use Self-Screening (AUDIT-C)

Three questions, about a minute, no account or sign-up. This won’t tell you whether you have “a problem” — it’s a validated screening tool that gives you a score and what that score commonly indicates, same as a nurse might ask at a checkup.

Sex (cutoffs differ)
1. How often do you have a drink containing alcohol?
2. How many standard drinks do you have on a typical day when you're drinking?
3. How often do you have 6 or more drinks on one occasion?

This is a screening tool, not a diagnosis

AUDIT-C is a validated 3-question screener used in clinical settings to flag drinking patterns worth a closer look — it doesn’t diagnose alcohol use disorder or anything else, and it isn’t a substitute for talking to a doctor. If you drink heavily and daily and feel shaky, sweaty, anxious, or unwell when you stop or cut back, that can indicate physical dependence, where stopping abruptly can be medically dangerous — that’s a conversation for a doctor, not a self-directed plan.
